Improving the quality of life for families caring for children and adults with disabilites, chronic illness or age-related conditions

The Amazing Race

After seven great years of "Run a LAP for Respite" 5K and 8K Run/Walk, LAP has decided to retire our race at Hawk Island Park.

This year it is our pleasure to present a gala event "LIKE A FINE WINE, LAP ONLY GETS BETTER WITH TIME" that will be presented on April 22, 2010, at the MSU Stadium Tower.

Who We Are

LAP Respite Center, Inc., was established as a 501(c)(3), private, nonprofit agency providing lifespan respite services for families who care for children or adults with disabilities, chronic illness, or age-related conditions.

Respite is the provision of temporary relief for caregivers and families who are caring for those with disabilities, chronic illnesses, or the elderly. Planned respite time is a vital part of the continuum of family services intended to reduce family stress, support family stability, and minimize the need for out-of-home placements.

The mission of LAP Respite Center is to enhance the quality of life for family caregivers, by creatively providing a wide range of high-quality, accessible, and affordable respite services. Respite services are available to families living in central Michigan in the counties of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton.
